Governance Charter HIC-000

How Human Impact standards are proposed, reviewed, approved and maintained.

§1

Scope

Governance protects the integrity of the standard.

This charter establishes the rules by which Human Impact develops and maintains standards. It applies to proposals, revisions, public consultation, approvals, conflicts of interest, appeals and document control.

§2

Core governance requirements

Every decision must be traceable.

HIC-000-R01

Evidence

Each proposed requirement shall state its purpose, supporting evidence, intended beneficiary and verification method.

HIC-000-R02

Consultation

Material revisions shall be published for review before adoption wherever practical.

HIC-000-R03

Conflict disclosure

Contributors shall disclose interests that could reasonably influence a standards decision.

HIC-000-R04

Version control

Published documents shall retain a visible version, status, effective date and revision history.

HIC-000-R05

Appeal

Certification and standards decisions shall provide a documented route for review or appeal.

Draft. Review. Approve. Maintain.

3.1

Proposal

Define the problem, evidence and intended outcome.

3.2

Technical review

Test measurability, neutrality and unintended consequences.

3.3

Public consultation

Publish material changes for comment.

3.4

Approval

Record the decision, effective date and responsible custodian.

Maintenance

Review evidence and revise only when justified.
